Spine Medical Assistant
As a Spine Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the spine and orthopedic clinic. You will assist physicians and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care, documentation, and coordination. The goal is to deliver high-quality, compassionate care and maintain smooth, organized clinic operations that support excellent patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
· Greet and prepare patients for spine, pain management, and orthopedic examinations
· Record vital signs, medical history, medications, and pain assessments accurately in the patient chart
· Assist physicians during procedures, including injections, imaging, and post-operative evaluations
· Organize and schedule appointments, imaging studies (MRI, X-ray), and follow-up visits
· Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA
· Prepare and clean treatment rooms, equipment, and instruments before and after procedures
· Manage prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance documentation related to spine and orthopedic care
· Coordinate communication between providers, patients, and external facilities for continuity of care
· Assist with medication refills, supply inventory, and clinical documentation as directed
· Support billing and collections by accurately coding and recording procedures when required
Skills
· Proven experience as a medical assistant in a spine, orthopedic, or pain management setting
· Knowledge of medical office systems, EMR software, and spine procedure terminology
· Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
· Strong time management and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Detail-oriented and organized with a high level of professionalism
· Understanding of anatomy and terminology related to spine and musculoskeletal conditions
· Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
· Medical Assistant Certification (CMA/RMA) preferred
