Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is an advanced form of extended care that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions to help relieve chronic pain and other symptoms. PT is a non-invasive and drug-free approach that can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and prevent further injuries. Physical therapy is often used to treat or supplement treatment for a wide range of spine and orthopedic issues, including back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis. Physical therapy is also a common practice after undergoing a surgical procedure to help the affected body part return to normal.

One of the main goals of physical therapy is to reduce pain and inflammation using various techniques, such as stretching, strengthening, and massage. Physical therapists will often use manual therapy techniques, such as manipulation and mobilization, to help improve the mobility of the affected joint or muscle. They may also use heat or cold therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and various other methods to help reduce pain and inflammation.

Physical therapy can also be used to improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles and joints. This can be achieved through a variety of exercises, such as stretching, strengthening, and aerobic exercise. Physical therapists will often work with patients to develop an individualized exercise plan that is tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Physical therapists will often provide patients with education on proper posture, body mechanics, and ergonomics. They may also teach patients how to use assistive devices, such as canes and walkers, to help them move around safely and comfortably.

Physical therapy can be effective for a wide range of spine and orthopedic issues, including:

  • Neck pain: Reduction of pain and inflammation in the neck to improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles that support the neck.
  • Osteoarthritis: Reduction of pain and inflammation in the affected joint and improvement of strength and flexibility of the muscles that support the joint.
  • Other orthopedic issues: A wide range of other orthopedic issues, such as tendinitis, bursitis, and sprains can be treated using PT

Physical therapy is a valuable treatment option for spine and orthopedic issues. It can be used to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and prevent further injury. A physical therapist will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and goals.
